I just ordered a FT-8900R through ham radio outlet and had a few questions about the repeater option, VFO utility in regards to scanning, and ANI?
First off will the FT-8900R allow for repeater set up on the same band (not crossband) for example my FD wants me to designate 156.---Mhz with a duplex repeat to another 156.---Mhz for fire ground operation. Im a bit new to how FM radio works but could this work with the FT-8900? also if i were to set the repeat on the same frequency (ex. both left and right side of the rig on 154.600) will it still transmit and recieve normally or will the handhelds and other mobiles be cut off and distorted because its retransmitting on the same frequency?
Also in VFO mode and the "hyper memory" settings can you set the rig to scan a set of memory channels instead of all VFO channels? And can ANI be set on the rig with out software?
