FT-277R accessory help

Hello all.

I recently purchased the FT-277R online. I went to another website and bought a headset to use with it. To use the headset, I had to buy the CT-91 adapter, which I was told would make the radio compatible with ICOM 2-pin connections, as seen here: www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=33_401&products_id=12060

That's not the PTT I bought, but the PIN is the same. When I plug the PTT in to the adapter, it does not work. I can hear other's over the radio, but my voice doesn't broadcast. The other radio sounds like it is receiving, but my voice doesn't come through.

Did I get the wrong PTT connection?

Assume I know next to nothing about radios of this caliber, and you would be assuming correctly, so please, make your answers idiot proof.

I've been told that the FT-277R has a "non standard" Yaesu connector, but I can't figure out what that means.

EDIT: I found a website that has several different Yaesu models listed for the Yaesu pin I listed above. I'm wondering whether or not the pin will work in my radio if it works in the ones listed. Here's the website: tactical-mod.com/index.php/z-tactical-u94-headset-cable-ptt.html
