I have a Yaesu FT-897D and may possibly be purchasing a used UK Ranger 811H amp but I am confused on the interface method b/w the 2.
The FT-897D has the RF output port plus an ALC and 8-pin output meant to connect to amplifiers. The UK Ranger 811H, of course, has coax in and out RF ports as well as PTT and ALC ports. The amp has no 8-pin connection.
Can tell me how this radio and this amp are supposed to interface? Is it as simple as the coax connections and the single ALC connection b/w the radio and amp? The ALC connection triggers the amp's x-mit mode that is all that is needed? I've never had or used an amp before so I just want to make sure my ducks are in a row if I decide to buy the amp.
