I bought a brand new 991A last year and its been in the shop for warranty repair 3 times!, Each time they keep the radio for over a month and now on this last time there its been there for over 40 days and they still don't have the parts to fix it. I own the FT-DX10 and never had an issue with it and use it ALL the time using ALL the same connections the 991 used and it is as solid as a rock. My problem is how does Yaesu allow a customer to spend all this time without the product purchased? If you have a parts issue you should be giving the customer either a loaner or like new reburb. It feels like they could care less and I will tell you I lost any thought in purchasing Yaesu ever again. I think its time to start looking at Icom. I will have to tell all the operators I talk to that Yaesu is just not a solid product and they aren't responsive in repairing under warranty let alone why its failing so much. I get there are issues with shipping, etc. but as a company you should have a contingency plan and I see the 991A being restocked in every reseller so they have them available. I didn't spend 1200 on the radio and then 250.00 already on shipping and insurance on to send it to California to NOT have the radio. Its gone so long I'm thinking about buying an Icom and just selling the POS when it gets sent back to me. Yes, I am mad... who wouldn't be? A company is only as good as the way they handle their service department. And if they are working on it, why not let the customer know? why do I have to keep asking what's going on and get a response a week later?
Well, I have vented..... Still don't feel better.... this is making the idea of being a ham operator not fun for me.... a lot of time invested in study to pass tests and a lot of money to buy radios and setup antennas, etc to just sit here and type to a forum that I am not sure anyone who reads it even cares. Yup, wah, wah, wah from me....
