I have two fn-65s... (2 additional uv5rs) Back in 1980 most repeaters did not have PLs. The repeaters here in Los Angeles were full of chatter. Traffic now is slower. So I'm having trouble getting feedback on two issues. 1. I imputed the PL value to both TX and RX. I can hear the two programmed repeaters and I break squelch. I also hear conversation. My computer speakers are humming, so I'm putting out. I got a good signal report. So I guess things are okay and no one is home. But my question is whether the PL value should be applied to both tx and rx for most repeaters. I set the Sql Tone to t-tn.
2. In VFO mode I put in a 70 cm frequency, 446.620 and the HT changed it to 446.625. This also happned with 445.520 which was changed immediately to 445.525 Both repeaters use a -5. shift. The first ones PL is published as 0.0; the second as 123.
Sorry for my ignorance, my HT was an Icom 2AT and the car rig a Kenwood. Most repeaters in Los Angeles were open.
Thanks in advance... WD6EAN

P.S. The good signal report was earlier today but I had done more programming... I don't think I messed up anything. It seems straight forward. I have a Comet dual band mag mount.
