I am trying to utilise the 13.8v output available on the 8 pin CAT/Linear socket of the 857D to power a tuner. As yet I have not connected a load to it and believe I have the menu settings correct. Menu 85 - Tuner; Menu 20 - Tuner. Testing with a multi-meter indicates that there is no voltage present on the 2 pins as indicated by the manual. Does anyone know:
1. Is this 13.8v source present at all times?
2. Are the menu settings I'm using correct?
3. Any other suggestions?
I have two FT-857D's and both are showing the same result. I'm taking a punt that both of them can't be faulty(?)
Any advise appreciated

I've just got the MAT30 tuner which is powered by the CAT socket. Set the menus as you have and works no problem. Power is on when you switch on the radio. 1) (stating the obvious) are you checking the correct pins (1&3)? 2) If still no power check fuse F1001 in case that has popped. You never know it might have happened on both radios if the same faulty bit of kit was plugged in.
